Metabolism

How we boost or reduce our metabolism

Fat burning food?

Do certain foods burn fat?

Balance

The key to success with diet is the concept of balance.

More to come on this subject.....

Caffeine - Alcohol - Yeast - Sugar

Remove these 4 ingredients from your diet for a fortnight and you will most likely notice a reduction in bodyfat of some kind.

Caffeine
"I can't get through the day without a coffee."
I have heard that from about 80% of my clients, each of whom are highly motivated people who want to do something positive about their shape and health. Try to take their coffee - or tea, and in some cases diet colas - away from them an you would have thought you'd offered to pull a tooth out with a pair of pliers. This is known as addiction, and it is endemic in our 9 to 5 population. A population which is gearing up for Hypertension, cardiac overload, and obesity well before the age when these factors ought to appear.
Caffeine is held with such fond regard that it is quite literally a member of the family. An empire was built on it, and anywhere you go in the world, buddhists, Muslims, Christians, Hindus and Jews can all sit down and spend time together, over a simple cup of tea. The heritage of this little  leaf and seed gives people a multi-layered barracks of justification for its consumption.

"Its harmless"
I list the health benefits of caffeine below.

Right, that's that covered.

Hidden harm
This link http://www.teeccino.com/Quiz2.aspx takes you through some of the many knocks your internal body takes from regular hits of caffeine. But don't worry, they only mention about 25 potential side effects. Blood pressure is likely to reduce.
Sleep will be deeper and more refreshing.

Social hypnosis
Sheep are generally stupid animals. However, they make the most of what intelligence they have. They stick together in flocks for safety, and that's about all they can do, other than butt with their heads, but their eyesight is poor and they can't see where they're aiming. Sheep have so little intelligence that they cannot choose any other action other than to follow the herd.
Human beings are well proven to be more intelligent than sheep which means they can choose what they do at any given moment. When I suggest, to anyone, that they might try to cut out their fix from their daily diet, I watch as people turn into sheep in front of my eyes. First, a numb stare. Next, shortness of breath as panic kicks in. Next, they start bleating loudly. Bleating with statements of grief, despair and fear. Finally, the sheep nestles itself into the herd, surrounding itself with the rest of the population, stating that "everyone drinks tea and coffee" so its alright. Unable to make a choice for themselves, the human becomes the sheep, and all that evolved intelligence goes completely to waste.

Intelligent Eating

Intelligent Eating
I decided to write this blog for anyone who wants sound and honest advice about how to eat properly. For my personal training clients with their huge range of goals and target body parts, injuries, niggles, aches and pains, there can be no doubt whatsoever that without correct nutrition, progress towards those goals is seriously slowed down or completely absent. At some point every will reach a point, beyond which they won't progress, without attention to their diet.

Within this blog I will be digesting the role of diet from the point of view of my job as a personal trainer and from the points of view that I hear and listen to on a daily basis. I have probably heard every excuse ever made. When it comes to excuses, there is no better collection of creativity than that associated with why people do not eat healthy food.

I will refer to various sources throughout the blog, referring and linking to others far more qualified and experienced than me to give this advice out. By doing so, I aim to get a strong message across about how poor our diets are, and how much better we can feel and perform if we start to organise our eating more intelligently.

All the best
Paul
